Entitlement
“as you read and ponder the Book of Mormon,
verses you have read before will appear new to you and bring new ideas. Your
testimony will grow in breadth and in depth as the Holy Ghost
confirms that they are true.”
“I
hope that you all have proved that promise for yourself or that you will do it
soon [see Moroni
10:3–5]. The answer may not come in a single and powerful spiritual
experience. For me it came quietly at first. But it comes ever more forcefully
each time I have read and prayed over the Book of Mormon.”
“Testimony
requires the nurturing by the prayer of faith, the hungering for the word of
God in the scriptures, and the obedience to the truth we have received. There
is danger in neglecting prayer.”
-President
Henry B. Eyring
“The wisdom of God will not come to us by entitlement; we
must be willing to seek after it. “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of
God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be
given him”
“The wisdom of God is a spiritual gift. “Seek not for riches
but for wisdom, and behold, the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto you,
and then shall you be made rich”
“Generally, the spiritual gift of wisdom
comes step by step as we honestly and diligently seek it. “”
“Finally,
the source of the wisdom of God is different from that of the world. The wisdom
of God is found in the scriptures, in the teachings of the prophets (such as
during general conference), and, of course, in our prayers (see D&C
8:1–2). And always, always this wisdom
distills upon us with the power of the Holy Ghost.”
-President
Gordon B. Hinckley
“Some
of you are floundering about and struggling to find what you will do. It does
not really matter what you choose to do for a living. What matters is what you
will be. You have the guidelines to know that. Remember the Spirit is
always with you to teach you.”
“Once
you have this self-control in your life, you will not need to be told what to
do all of the time. You will find your way and know where you fit in.”
“If
you want to be happy, you must pay the price through obedience. The restraints
that you face against wrongdoing are an enormous protection for you.”
-President
Boyd K. Packer
I love that we are entitled to do
things, but it is our choice to follow through with obedience. I know that if I
were not entitled, then I would not do anything. I am grateful for
accountability in my life it keeps me grounded in the things I know are right
and wrong. I know what I should be doing always, and I know how I should be
doing them. I love the guidelines to follow given my prophets and apostles.
